Uncles is a duo from Queens, Dan Bateman and Will Schwartz.
These two have something very refreshing to their sound and music, a kind of uregncy that is not stressful, to pass a message.
The two songs STR got, revealed good songwriting and performance, with compositions influenced by C&W singers on one hand, Tim Hardin on the other, and an overall feel of a looser Okkervil River.
Lyrics are good too, and I can hear Bill Callahan somewhere there between the lines.
Uncles will release their debut album Replacing Word with Other Words on April 22nd, with Sweet Touch Records.
Meanwhile, here’s a little glimpse.
