Slug Guts’s Howlin’ Gang.

I remember hearing Slug Guts in WFMU and thinking to myself – oh man, that’s such an interesting reissue.
But it wasn’t. The track I heard, I think it was Cold Bones, was off their new album Howlin’ Gang, out via the fantastic Sacred Bones label.

The music of Slug Guts, from Australia, is an interesting mixture of dark post punk elements, with fleshy guitars, psychedelic touches in the reverbed vocals. Overall they sound like a more raging Fresh & Onlys, their labelmates, with some Sun Araw, Amen Dunes, The Birthday Party and European post-punk.

It’s a good period now with great discoveries. I’m happy.
Btw, don’t miss their live session in WFMU’s Brian Turner show, available on the Free Music Archive.
