The new album by Hurray For The Riff Raff was resting at ease for couple of weeks in my ‘reviews’ folder and I’ve listened to it
almost ever night before I went to sleep.
That’s because it has this kind of chilling vibe, between the hand spreaded Americana that is expressed through the banjo playing of
the talented musician behind this moniker – Alynda Lee Segarra.
The fusion between her playing, singing and writing skills makes Young Blood Blues a nice, pleasant surprise.
Mainly, it’s an album of simple songs, alone with a banjo with the occasional addition of drums, accordion and a trumpet, but all together – this album is Alynda alone. She has some Kathryn Williams in her deliver, some sort of a light indifference of an experienced singer, that is surprising duo to the fact she’s only 24.
This album will not change my life, but it will add some warmth to it, that along with a good whiskey and your beloved one next to you, can be perfect for those
little moments, a closure for a hectic day.
Check it out yourself and tell me what you thought.
