Piero Umiliani, is the more of a ‘lost gem’ of Italian soundtracks composers, next to Morricone and Riz Ortolini. Nevertheless, his works in soundtracks like La Ragazza Fuori Strada or Il Corpo are simply amazing and worth checking. Another fun fact – he’s the guy who composed the mega-hit Mah Na Mah Na
Continente Nero is one of his lesser known albums. This is not a soundtrack but it’s a brilliant must have album, that is rooted deeply in psychedelic, jazz and funk but also allow some library music moments to pass through the music.
It was released in 1975 via the Omicron label, where Umiliani released several of stunning library music albums, and it will definitely be worth the 45 seconds it’ll take you to search for an online vinyl rip.
