An interesting release from Light In The Attic Records – Late Late Party 1965-1967, which is the first anthology ever compiled of the music of Charles Axton.
Charles Axton mom and uncle had started Stax in 1961, while Axton was fascinated by the Memphis sound and started two band as a bandleader (and also played as a sideman in sessions). The first band was The Mar-Keys who had a top ten hit called Last Night
He also had a band with Booker T called The Packers who also enjoyed a top ten hit called Hole In The Wall
So now Light In The Attic are releasing this compilation, and offer a snippet from each song in their website, and it sounds SO good, check it out yourself.
